Are You Afraid of Dying? Here’s How You Can Live Without That Fear

Do you have a fear of dying?

If so, you’re not alone. Approximately 20% of people in America suffer from a fear of death — a condition called thanatophobia. That’s nearly the same percentage of people who fear public speaking, which we all know is extremely common.

Because death is certain — and as the old joke goes, so are taxes — it’s no surprise that the idea of dying causes anxiety for many people. For some, the fear is so intense it affects their daily peace, thoughts, and emotional well-being.

But what if I told you that you don’t have to carry this fear anymore?

There Is Hope After Death — and a Way to Know For Sure

Imagine knowing — without a doubt — that there is life after death. Imagine knowing you could spend eternity in a place filled with peace, love, and joy.

Wouldn’t that take the sting out of dying?

Well, here’s the good news: you can know that for certain.

And the answer to overcoming the fear of death is not a “what”… it’s a Who.

Jesus — The Answer to the Fear of Dying

Jesus said:

“Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life. I am the bread of life.”

And again:

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

— John 11:25–26 (WEB)

Just reading that brings comfort to the soul. Jesus tells us that death isn’t the end — and that eternal life is real and available through Him.

He also said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”

In other words, Jesus is the doorway to eternal life. And He invites you in.

Why Death Was Never Meant for Us

Here’s something many people don’t realize: death was never part of God’s original plan.

When sin entered the world through the fall of man, so did death. But God, in His love and mercy, made a way for us to live again — forever — through Jesus Christ.

Jesus defeated death by dying on the Cross and rising from the dead. He removed the sting of death for all who believe in Him.

“Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

How to Enter into Eternal Life

To receive the gift of eternal life, you must enter into a relationship with Jesus by accepting Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior.

When you do, the fear of death begins to disappear — and something even greater happens: your life starts to transform.

You may notice changes in your:

• Thoughts and beliefs

• Desires and priorities

• Relationships and habits

• Sense of peace and purpose

Jesus works in your heart, shaping you into the person He created you to be. It’s the beginning of a relationship that leads to eternal life and present-day peace.

A Prayer to Receive Eternal Life Through Jesus

If you’re ready, you can pray this from your heart right now:

Jesus, thank you for bringing me this knowledge! It truly calms my spirit, and I am very grateful for this news. Thank you for loving me and drawing me to You. I desire at this time to enter into a relationship with You.

I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died on the Cross for my sins, and that You were raised from the dead so that I may live and have eternal life with You.

I gratefully accept Your generous gift of eternal life.

I submit all of my fears, phobias, worries, and imperfections to You. Please transform my mind and heart so that I become the person You created me to be.

Lead my steps and keep me close to You always. Teach me Your ways. Please be a wall of protection around me, my family, my friends, my colleagues, and all those You have given me in this life.
